Non-Surgical Approaches to Cancer

Skin Cancer Management Without Invasive Surgery

Not all skin cancers need surgery. Where possible, Dr Tucker favours the least invasive approach to managing skin cancer and sunspots.

Some superficial skin cancers can be very effectively treated with creams such as 5-fluorouracil (Efudix) and Imiquimod (Aldara), reducing the potential for scarring and without compromising treatment.

Cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen freezing) can be an excellent treatment for certain superficial skin cancers, but is usually best avoided on the face as it can sometimes leave small pale scars.

Acitretin, a Dermatologist only prescription drug, can significantly reduce, and even in some cases stop the development of future skin cancers!
